  4. Not that long ago someone was asking if a program similar to the MSDos Micro 
  5. Text was available for the Atari 8bit.  At the time I would have said, no 
  6. however, little did I know Tom Andrews was beta testing the first versions of 
  7. Print Star.

  9. What is Print Star 
  10.  
  11. Have you ever wanted to save paper while printing out those long doc's (Those  
  12. of you who have printed out the TextPro Doc's know what I mean).  Did you  
  13. ever want an easy way to print on the front and back of your page?  Well then 
  14. Print Star maybe a program you want to look at.

  16. Simply, Print Star will print to any Epson or Gemini 10x compatable printer in 
  17. two or three columns, in one of three type sizes.  The only restriction being 
  18. that the original text file must be in 40 column format (Very easily done using 
  19. TextPro).   The program allows you to print either all pages, just the odd 
  20. pages, or just the even page.  Those of you following along see where this is 
  21. heading.  You can print all your odd pages first, turn the pages over and print 
  22. all your even pages, saving a load of paper.  You can print in either  
  23. continuous, continuous auto feed, or single sheet.  Using the smallest print 
  24. (superscript on your printer), Print Star can fit about 2.5 converted 80 
  25. column sheets per page.  The author states that a 765k double density text 
  26. file can be printed out on only 13 pages (front and back).  Print Star even 
  27. prints a double ht, double wide header and a standard size by line centered 
  28. on either the first page or all pages, and there is even the option to print 
  29. footers with page numbers.

  31. The doc's are very clear and easy to follow, and are already in 40 column 
  32. format, ready for you to print out using Print Star.  I spoke with Tom on 
  33. GEnie, and he really does want to hear from you.  If you like the program, 
  34. hate the program, or just have ideas to improve it, drop him a line.  His 
  35. address, GEnie Mail address and New York BBS where he can be found are  
  36. included in the doc's.

  38. Print Star is written in basic and can be compiled using the TBXL compiler. 
  39. At this time the author has not set a shareware fee for his program but has 
  40. released it as Freeware.

  42. Print Star has been uploaded to the atari.archive.umich.edu under the name 
  43. pstr13.arc and can be found in the atar/8bit/New directory.
